Ed Kemper
Recently, as you may know, Netfilx has released new series called "Mindhunter", about two FBI agents interviewing America's most brutal serieal killers. One of the killers is present in almost every episode. It's Ed Kemper, the murderer that terrified the United States. During the show he shares with us the story of his live and how he started killing people. What he is telling us sounds unbelieveble, so I decicded to do some reaserch how many things we hear about him are true.
Ed Kemper killed 10 people, inluding 3 members of his family. When he was 15, he killed his grandparents. He killed his grandma beaucause he found her extermely similar to his mother. He sais they both were matriarchal, agressive women. Then he killed his granndpa out of mercy, beaucause he knew he couldn't live without his grandmother.
Then he was locked in hospital for 6 years. After he was relaesed, he killed 6 women from the campus where his mother was working. He said it was his mother's fault that she raised him to be a killer. It was all down to her. The night he killed her, she said "Oh I suppose you're going to wanna sit up all night and talk now..." irritated, mocking him. He cut her head off, and raped her dead body to humiliate.
I'm terrified to say that most of the things in "Mindhunter" you heard about Ed Kemper are true. And in the end, the thing that scares me the most, is the fact that he blames his mother for the things he has done and acts as he regrets what he has done. Still, he couldn't stop killing. He seems not to control his actions.
If you find my article interesting, you should really watch this and more interviewsh with E. Kemper

The question how much our parents (and mothers in particular) matter in our future life hasn't been solved. There are some schools in psychology, e.g. psychoanalysis, that attribute huge influence to our mothers. Clearly, the FBI investigators in 'Mindhunter' identified with this theory. But there is evidence to the contrary, too.
OdpowiedzUsuńI'm sure that parents are not fully responsable for making a killer, but they definitely have big influence on us in years that our personality is shaping the most.
