Reflection #8

Recently as i visted a museum I heard a men looking at a painting, whose reaction to it was very unexpexted. He laughed and said to his wife "thats so easy! Our kid could do this". I glanced at him a little bit embarassed by his approach. A lot of people dont't appreciate what they see, they don't know how difficut it was to make this peace of art, they don't think that someone had to imagine it first, just because they see something that doesn't seem complicated, they criticize and establish that they would be able to do exactly the same. Its very ignorant and arogant, it happends to everyone, but we need to learn that before we make such an assumption we should read more about background of painting we're looking at for exemple. Lately i tried to paint a landscape from my holiday, i though that it can't be that hard. I had a lot of fun doing it, but the result looks like a 5years old kindergarden painting.

Reflection #7

A few days ago, it was the 100 anniversery of polish independece. It should be a joyful, big event, that connects all poland. Instead, I never leave the house on that day. Why? Because my parents are afraid of what may happen in the center of warsaw. It's a sad truth, but most of my friends are also not allowed to go out that day. We should be celebrating, but the parades that day are full of hate and blind nationalism. People are not connecting, but dividing even more. This year it was supposed to be different, because of the goverment parade. But what difference does it make, if still, on this perticular day, we let people who say hatefull words to be the biggest attraction.

Like every year, for all Saints Day, families gather to visit their loved ones on the cementery. At first I was looking at this day a little bit critically, because it seemed to me rude that we remember about them only once a year. But then i realised, that people don't want to think about the past all the time, cause for some of them it's hurtfull. Some of course simply don't have enough time to vist them more often. I realised that this tradition helps people, they spend all day remembering and honoring their loved ones. That gives them peace, and thanks to this day, we will never forget the ones we've lost.
